Remembering John Munro 'Jack'

Munro; John (Jack) Cecil Charles (P. Eng., Queen’s University) – It is with deep sadness that the Munro family announces the passing of our much loved father John.  Dearly loved husband to Joyce who passed away in June, 2013. His children Heather (Gordon Gauthier), and Bruce (Sheila), forever Papa to his grandchildren, Courtney Munro (Rob Calvert), Jordan Munro (Melissa), Ashley Munro (Kevin Haire), Sarah Gauthier and Michelle Gauthier and great grandchildren Maeve Gauthier, Jack Munro and Ethan Calvert will sorely miss his kindness and family leadership.  Beloved brother to Isabelle Wilson, predeceased by his sisters Jean Maloof, Catherine Puras, Shirley Eckford, Thelma Nesbitt and brothers Keith and Willard. John was born in Detroit, Michigan before the family moved to the Ottawa Valley and Fitzroy Harbour. He attended Queen’s University after serving in Holland with the 1st Canadian Armoured Carrier Regiment, RCAC (The Kangaroos) during WWII.  After obtaining his Professional Engineering designation his family lived in Kingston, Brockville and Essex, Ontario before moving to Midland, Ontario some 7 years ago.  He had a wonderful and successful career as a Chemical Engineer while working for Dupont (Kingston and Brockville) and Allied Chemical (Amherstburg) before retiring in 1986 to enjoy his many interests of which gardening was his passion.

Family and friends will be received at Carson Funeral Homes – JH Lynn Chapel, 290 First Street, Midland (705) 526-6551 on Monday February 24, 2014 from 12:00 PM until time of funeral service celebration in the chapel at 1:00 PM.  Burial to follow at a later date at St. Mark’s Anglican Cemetery, Midland.  Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family if desired.
