Remembering Jean Wagg (nee Shatford)

Jean Munro Wagg (nee Shatford), at the age of 90, a resident of Penetanguishene for many years, passed away on December 16, 2024 at The Villa in Midland, Ontario. Jean was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia. After high school, Jean studied at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, enrolled in the nutrition stream of the Home Economics program.  Following her studies, Jean moved to Ontario to work as a nutritionist at a hospital and then moved into teaching in a secondary school in Welland, where she met her husband of 62 years, Maxwell Lloyd Wagg (2021). Jean and Max enjoyed a long and loving marriage, which included travel, gardening, and volunteer work. Together, they raised four children, Larry Wagg (Carrie Wyse); Brian Wagg (Ursula Aust); Kevin Wagg (Cheryl McMurray) Nancy Marion (Dean Marion). While her children were young, she focused solely on her family, then returned to work as grief counsellor at the Penetanguishene Hospital.  Jean was loved by many for the comfort that she provided. As the years passed her family grew and Jean became a very proud grandmother of Max, Leo, Ben, Matthew, Tricia and Kyle.  Special thanks to the staff at The Villa for the excellent care and dedication they provided to Jean.  A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church at a later date and there will be an announcement when the date has been determined.  In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to Saint Paul’s United Church in Midland.  Arrangement entrusted to Carson Funeral Homes - J.H. Lynn Chapel (705)526-6551.
