Sharon, (nee Shellswell), passed away at the Leacock Care Centre in Orillia on Monday, October 21st at the age of 83. She is survived by her brother Wayne Shellswell of Barrie, (Joyce pre-deceased), her children Darryl (Brenda) & Ben (Cathryn) of Orillia, and by her four grandchildren, Karlie, Jessica, Andrew & Lisa. Sharon was recently pre-deceased by her brother Glenn Shellswell, (Kathy) of Coldwater.
Sharon grew up in Coulson, Ontario and graduated from the Orillia District Collegiate Vocational Institute, (ODCVI). She became a legal secretary and worked for Mr. Albert Glass in Orillia. After an eighteen-year absence from the workforce as a stay-at-home mom, she returned & worked for the Orillia & District Real Estate Board, Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital & Mark 4 Variety, before retiring in 1993.
Sharon understood that love and relationships are what matter most in life. She had many long-lasting friendships, some of which began in elementary school. She loved celebrating birthdays & holidays with family, always putting great thought into each gift and selecting the perfect card for every occasion. She was also a talented baker, who for many years made a batch of home-made bread to be enjoyed throughout the week. She enjoyed making desserts using cherished family recipes, some of which had been handed down through generations.
Sharon was loyal to family and friends, always willing to help when those close to her needed assistance. She maintained an active social life and will be missed by her many friends at the Royal Canadian Legion, the Army and Navy Club, the Moose Lodge & her former neighbours on Regent St.
Sharon’s family would like to thank the health care professionals and support staff at the Leacock Care Centre, who provided exceptional care to her during the final year of her life.
