Remembering Barry James Cockburn

Orillia lost one of its “Majors” on Friday July 21, 2023 as Barry James (Curly) Cockburn transitioned to his heavenly home. In his 81st year. Barry and his wife Alice celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary last month. The couple has resided in Orillia and Oro raising three children – Calvin Cockburn (Lisa), Amanda Howard (Chris) and Susan Pullen (John). He was the supportive grandfather to Matthew, Brandon, Courtney, Sarah and Benjamin and great grandfather to Alisa, Peyton, Tegan, Adalee, Brielle, Jemma, Ozias and Tre. Barry was predeceased by his siblings Gwen and Eric. He retired from his machinist career at Barrie Welding and Machine. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, Emanuel and Cornerstone helping with Boys Brigade. In his senior years, Barry enjoyed being a member of the Orillia Lawn Bowling Club. He demonstrated perseverance and faithfulness toward God, Family and friends. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 265 Coldwater Rd.
