Remembering Corinne Edith Carman Bremner (nee Spring)

Died at Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Saturday, August 4th, at the age of 87.  Cherished wife of Wally for more than 56 years.  Beloved mother of Gord (Orillia) and Paula (Toronto).  Devoted grandmother to Gord and Heather's children: Sutton, Luke, and Cole.  Faithful friend to many people and cats alike.  Predeceased by siblings Don, Bill and Jean.  Coco was born in Ottawa in 1931 and raised in Belleville.  She earned a degree at the University of Toronto in General Arts and specialist certificates in education (Guidance and Library).  Her intrepid spirit took her to Europe in her early 20s to teach on Canadian Forces bases and travel as she was always so keen to explore.  The consummate educator, Coco subsequently enjoyed an active teaching career for over 24 years in Etobicoke and North York.   Coco was a creative and inventive woman who always kept her family uppermost in her thinking.  A round-the-world adventure with her young family in the late 1970s was typical.  The adventures continued when Coco packed up her family to live in England for over a year.  Coco was a wonder woman and everything a family could hope for.  She is gone and will be terribly missed.  Paula and Gord and his wife Heather, as well as Wally's many friends, continue to be of invaluable help and comfort to Wally during his time of need.  There will be no visitation or formal funeral.  There will be, however, a celebration of Coco's life on August 16th in Orillia (Couchiching Golf & Country Club, 370 Peter St. North), beginning at 6:30 p.m.  In place of flowers, the family requests that any donations to the Orillia SPCA be considered in Coco's name.
