Remembering Mary McInnes Forbes 'May'

Passed January 21, 2017 in her 96th year, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Ken Forbes Sr. Survived by her daughter Kathryn Forbes and son Ken Forbes Jr. May was born in Clydebank, Scotland February 14, 1921. She was trained as a Fashion Designer starting her career in Scotland. May served in the RAF during WWII with British Coastal Command. She came to Canada in the early 1950’s where she met and married Ken in 1952. They enjoyed 59 years together, prior to his passing in December 2011. During her time living in Toronto, she enjoyed a home based career designing and sewing Wedding and Bridesmaid Gowns. As a longtime member of The York Minstrels, (community theater group) designed and manufactured award winning Costumes for twenty years. After moving to the Orillia area in 1989, they joined The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34. They also took up Scottish Country Dancing, which they both enjoyed for years. May was proud to support the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Tuesday January 31, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Donations to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
